Welcome to “Illustrative People,” an art class dedicated to mastering the art of drawing simplified mini people, stylized faces, portraits, and full-body illustrations. Throughout this course, you'll learn from step-by-step guidelines and proportional techniques designed to kickstart your artistic journey.
With dedication and practice, you'll discover and refine your own unique style. If you’re passionate and committed to developing your skills, you’ll quickly grasp the concepts and unleash your potential in drawing people.

The first two lessons are beginner-friendly, gradually progressing to intermediate concepts.
You’ll need a basic understanding of drawing and how to use art mediums such as: colored pencils, gouache or watercolor paints. See FAQ for beginner class recommendations.

Colored pencils in assorted colors (especially skin tones; more color details will be listed in the class notes)
Gouache paint in a variety of colors (especially: Zinc White, Ivory Black, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber, Yellow Ochre, and Flame Red) or substitute with Watercolor Paint

Feel free to substitute any art mediums or colors with what you already have on hand. The principles of figure drawing are transferable to all mediums!

It depends! Being a beginner can mean different things for everyone.
If you’re completely new to drawing and haven’t worked with art supplies like colored pencils or paint before, I’d recommend starting with my beginner drawing class,The Simple Joy of Drawing or the Creative Starter Kit. To get comfortable with materials, you can also try one of my medium-based workshops to explore gouache paint or pastels. Once you’ve practiced a bit, you’ll be perfectly ready for my intermediate-level classes like this one! -
My classes are designed for adults, but I’ve seen children ages 7–12 achieve wonderful results with guidance from a parent. Since I can’t assess your child’s individual learning ability, you know best whether this class would be a good fit. If you decide to enroll your child, I recommend taking the class together so you can guide and support them along the way.

There is no end date for this class. They are pre-recorded lessons that will always be available. However the special live Q&A Zoom session is only be available for students who sign up during the launch month. It will be recorded for the rest of the students.

Although this class is geared toward and teaches with traditional mediums.
You can use a gouache paint brush (Adobe has those sets) and a colored pencil like brush (like the Shale brush on procreate) to mimic the outcome of the art lessons.
I think it depends on how well you can adapt these lesson into your preferred medium - but the concepts are definitely transferrable. -
