My Cozy Art Studio: Furniture, Organization & Creative Room Ideas
A few months ago, I finally moved… and for the first time in years, I have my very own art studio at home! ✨
If you’ve followed me for a while, you know I’ve worked everywhere — the dining table, a corner of my living room, even the floor of my bedroom. So this feels like the ultimate creative upgrade. 😌
If you’re dreaming of your own art room or looking for ways to refresh your current creative workspace, come along for a blog tour. 😉 I’ll share my favorite art studio furniture, organization ideas, and cozy decor that might give you ideas for your own setup!
FYI: My space is split into two zones:
Creative / Analog Corner 🎨 – Where all the painting, sketching, and messy art stuff happens
Digital / Admin Corner 🎬 – Where I edit videos, work on my art classes, and do all the behind-the-scenes tech work
Art Studio Furniture & Organization Ideas
Drafting Table – I am using this adjustable Ikea table which is great for sketching and painting. I also spiced things up by painting the legs a pastel pink using this paint from Michaels.
Metal Cabinet for Art Supply Storage – This sleek cabinet keeps my scanner, paper cutter, cameras, and a box of random wires neatly tucked away. ✨
Simple Art Studio Chair – Another Ikea gem… so I wanted the chair to be a pop of color and found this. It was like $15, a total steal!
Wire Frame Shelving – These are modular shelves that you can configure however you want! I got these when I set up an art pop-up shop last year and now I use it to store sketchbooks, books, oversized watercolor pads, and other art supplies.
Small Art Studio Tools That Make a Big Difference
Desk Art Easel – This guy lifts up my paintings for better posture and makes long painting sessions easier. Find here.
Magnetic Mood Board – This is the Growme Moodyboard in butter! I like to keep a rotating gallery of inspiring photos on it for creative ruts. I hope that whatever I put on here will motivate me to create on those creative lows. This board is magnetic and comes in so many cute colors. Use code: “DEARELAINE” for 20% off!
Rolling Utility Cart – This is my favorite portable art supply storage solution. When I didn’t have a dedicated studio, this was my art studio on wheels. You can find this type of cart anywhere but this is mine.
Lamp & Phone Tripod – The Canvas lamp is a must-have for artist creators! I’ve had mine for over 4 years now (lost count, could be 5 but basically when they first started selling). I use this canvas lamp daily to film my content and it’s great for artists who create at night. 🎨✨ If you’re curious about my process watch this YT video. I would recommend the classic lamp with a wooden base or the 360 mount with clamp only. Also, use code “ELAINE10” for 10% off!
Cozy & Inspiring Art Studio Decor
Seasonal Finds – So I got asked about my decor and I got them from Michaels! So Michaels has a seasonal selection of cute decor and especially during spring, you’ll be able to find baskets, dried flowers, and cute planters. This fun irregular circle mirror and picture frames are also from my local Michaels.
Lace Curtains – I went through a few curtains until I found this one. I like how this lace curtain lets light through but also softens my room giving it cottagecore vibes 💕.
Plants, Plants, Plants – The plants I currently have in this room are: string of bananas, white princess philodendron, monstera, and a succulent terrarium I made by combining several succulents together! DIYing a terrarium is actually easier than I thought (I used an envelope glass box I saved from my wedding and repurposed it into this terrarium house) wa-lah!🌵
Dried Flower Wall Hanging – This wall hanging planter with glass tubes were originally for plant propagation but I decided to use dried florals instead! Cute?
My Digital / Tech Corner Setup
Adjustable Standing Desk – I like how Flexisport has a desk for the “extra short” height (for short people like me lol) but it also raises for standing work. I like to stand up every few hours to keep my back from hurting. Love this desk.
Samsung Curved Monitor – Perhaps the most important thing I’ve purchased besides my laptop for work. But this is a life changer, I am so productive & efficient with this monitor, wished I got it earlier. The curved screen is apparently better for eye health but I like it because it lets me see multiple windows at once — it’s what I use for hourssssss editing art classes and other admin work. This is my screen.
BenQ Monitor Light Bar – My head & eyes started hurting after too much screen time so my friend suggested this light bar for my monitor. I definitely had my doubts but I’m so glad I tried it. It miraculously relaxes my eyes and I haven’t had that stinging/straining pain since I started using it! Seriously can’t explain, not sure why it works but it works (if you experience headaches and eye strain from extended computer work then try this.)
Felt Pin Board – Even though I plan digitally now, it’s nice to see everything on paper. This felt board helps me plan my life and projects, reminds me to prioritize good habits and tracks my goals. Here’s the one I use.
MOFT Tech Accessories – You know I love MOFT stuff, they recently launched the best (imo) iPad case called the dynamic folio, this thing can be folded into multiple angles and is perfect for digital illustration! I also love their laptop case which turns into a riser, and of course I can’t forget to mention their invisible phone tripod! This comes in so many pretty colors now.🥹 I always travel with this tripod and would recommend for traveling artists. Use code “DEARELAINE10” for 10% off.
FAQ: Setting Up an Art Studio at Home
Q: How do I set up an art corner if I don’t have much space?
A: I’ve been there — I once lived in a 400 sq ft NYC apartment where the floor was my art table. So my advice would be to keep all your supplies in a rolling utility cart so you can wheel it out whenever! Since your art materials are already visible and accessible, it removes the obstacle of having to dig them out of a closet. If a cart won’t work, try an art box or tote you can easily carry to your workspace. 🎨
Q: What do you need for a small home art studio?
A: Start with the basics: a table (any sturdy surface works), a comfortable chair, and a way to organize your supplies. I keep pencils and markers in cups, and my paint tubes in little clear acrylic bins. If you have extra wall space, a pegboard is amazing for hanging paints, brushes, and tools. Good lighting is also important, I love working in front of a sunny window, but a nice desk lamp works, too. Once you have the essentials, add your personal touches like plants, a gallery wall, or an inspiration board to make it feel truly yours. ✨
Now that’s it for now - the rest of my space is actually a bit chaotic — there’s a random kneeling chair, boxes and scraps on the ground, two printers, a camera tripod, and a closet bursting with craft supplies.
I hope this little blog post gave you inspiration for your own creative workspace setup! Whether you have a whole room or just a corner, you can make it your own little creative haven. 💖
Happy creating! xxx
